Smart Guide for Human-AI Teaming Research

The "Smart Guide for Human-AI Teaming Research" is a capstone project developed by students from the Master of Human-Computer Interaction program at Carnegie Mellon University. This project aims to enhance research efficiency and collaboration in the field of Human-AI Teaming (HAIT). Recognizing the challenges faced by researchers, such as the lack of standardized metrics and resource-intensive field testing, the team conducted extensive expert interviews and pilot experiments to gather valuable insights. These insights informed the development of the Smart Guide, a digital tool designed to streamline literature reviews, facilitate collaboration, and provide standardized metrics for HAIT research.

The Smart Guide addresses several key issues identified during the research phase. One major challenge in HAIT research is the time-consuming nature of literature reviews and data analysis. The Smart Guide integrates tools that automate and simplify these processes, allowing researchers to focus on the core aspects of their studies. By providing a centralized platform for managing research materials and data, the Smart Guide enhances the efficiency and accuracy of literature reviews, helping researchers stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.

Collaboration is another critical aspect of HAIT research that the Smart Guide aims to improve. The tool includes features that facilitate communication and coordination among research teams, enabling seamless sharing of data, insights, and findings. This collaborative environment fosters interdisciplinary research and helps bridge the gap between different areas of expertise within the HAIT community. By supporting real-time collaboration and information exchange, the Smart Guide promotes a more integrated and cohesive research process.

Standardized metrics are essential for ensuring the reliability and comparability of research findings in HAIT. The Smart Guide provides a framework for developing and implementing standardized metrics, helping researchers establish consistent evaluation criteria across different studies. This standardization improves the quality and credibility of HAIT research, making it easier for researchers to replicate studies and build on each other's work. By offering tools for creating and using standardized metrics, the Smart Guide contributes to the overall advancement of the HAIT field.

The project is ongoing, with further development planned for the summer semester. The team is committed to refining and expanding the Smart Guide's capabilities based on feedback from the research community. Future updates will focus on enhancing user experience, incorporating additional features, and ensuring the tool remains adaptable to the evolving needs of HAIT researchers. Through continuous improvement and collaboration, the Smart Guide aims to become an indispensable resource for advancing Human-AI Teaming research.
